The starting point of the whole series. Kazuma Kiryu takes the fall for his sworn brother Nishikiyama, serves ten years, and walks back into a Kamurocho noir built around ten billion yen and a girl named Haruka.
The Western release shipped with a Hollywood-cast English dub. The series later committed to Japanese audio with subtitles, leaving that dub as a quirk unique to the original.
Kiryu, Nishiki, and Yumi's triangle and the Tojo Clan power structure — the series' foundations — are all laid here. Kiwami is the remake that re-stages this skeleton with post-Yakuza 0 polish.
