When a dark secret brings a loan shark, a death-row inmate, a corrupt cop and the legendary yakuza Kazuma Kiryu together the resulting war in Kamurocho might level the district to the ground.
Chapter-aligned list of substories, trophies, and choices to pick up while progressing.
CH 1Part 1 — Akiyama: Money and Women
MISSABLE
'Mr. Dress-Up' — collect every Catalog outfit category
Before Akiyama's part ends
Akiyama's Hostess Maker has a Catalog Service — collect at least one outfit from every category before his part ends. Once Saejima's part starts the catalog locks, so finish buying while you still have access.
CH 2Common — difficulty trap
MISSABLE
'Indomitable' — refuse the easy-mode prompt
After a few story losses
Lose a few story fights and the game offers to drop you to Easy. Pick 'Yes' and the trophy is locked forever — always select 'No'.
Substories
63 entries
63 substories — Akiyama 16 / Saejima 15 / Tanimura 16 / Kiryu 16 (incl. Amon). Each protagonist's substories are gated to their own part; once their chapter ends you can only revisit unfinished ones via the 'past' seat in Sky Finance / hideout / Furusato / New Serena during the final part, so clear them in-chapter when possible. Many gate minigame unlocks (Cabaret, Ryugu Castle gambling, fishing).

Yakuza 4 spreads its minigames across its four protagonists in Kamurocho. For the Completion List and trophies you'll need to touch the Club SEGA games, Hostess Maker, and the gambling/bar games at least once. Hostess Maker's outfit collection is permanently missable, so grab everything before you finish it.
Arcade
Club SEGA - UFO Catcher
Difficulty
Club SEGA in Theater Square / Nakamichi Street
The classic crane game — grab a prize plush and drag it to the chute. Completion only needs a play, but it counts toward the 'Welcome to SEGA' trophy.
Aim the crane in two steps (depth, then sideways). Target a spot you can nudge or drag toward the chute, not just the plush's center of mass.
Inching the plush toward the chute over several grabs is more reliable than trying to lift it cleanly in one go.
For completion, a single successful grab at the cheapest booth is enough.
A shooter where you pilot an invincible laser ship and destroy enemies as fast as possible. Playing Boxcelios 2 three times and befriending the manager unlocks the original Boxcelios.
The ship can't be hit, so dive straight into enemy clusters and sweep them with the laser fearlessly.
Clear speed matters more than score — lock onto enemies the instant they appear to cut your kill time.
Play Boxcelios 2 three times first so the manager installs the original — the trophy needs both cabinets.
Time freezes for about 2 seconds each time an enemy appears — use that window to pre-aim right next to the enemy's glowing core (its weak point) for maximum kill efficiency.
Arcade
Club SEGA - Boxcelios
Difficulty
Club SEGA in Theater Square (must be unlocked)
The original version of Boxcelios, installed only after befriending the manager. Reaching Level 50 is a separate challenge.
Play Boxcelios 2 three times to befriend the manager, then return — the cabinet will be added.
Controls match Boxcelios 2 — focus on clearing enemies quickly with the invincible ship.
One play covers completion, but the Level 50 trophy demands a long grind.
Akiyama trains hostesses into No.1 cabaret girls. You must raise Looks, Smarts and Charisma to S-rank during shifts and beat Natsume. The 23-outfit collection becomes permanently missable once the minigame ends, making it the trickiest entry.
Each shift has 4 service segments and 3 breaks — use breaks to change outfits to match guest tastes and train stats.
Different guests prefer different outfits even within one shift; rotate three outfits to hit No.1.
For Fashionista, buy one of each of the 23 outfit types from the Dress-Up menu BEFORE finishing — the menu closes once the last hostess hits No.1.
The first hostess is hardest; later ones are far easier, so finish outfit collecting early.
Gambling
Mahjong
Difficulty
Mahjong parlor in Kamurocho
Standard Japanese riichi mahjong — the series' biggest wall if you don't know the rules, but one pattern is enough for completion. There's also a trophy for winning with Seven Pairs.
Keep your hand fully closed (never call Pon/Chi) so you can declare Riichi.
Chase Tanyao (only simples 2–8); once you're one tile away, declare Riichi and a yaku attaches automatically.
For the Seven Pairs trophy, complete seven distinct closed pairs.
Seven Pairs specifics: first discard any tile you hold 3+ of to break everything down into pairs, and never accept a Pon/Chi/Kan (steal) prompt — doing so makes Seven Pairs impossible for that hand since it must stay concealed.
Board
Shogi
Difficulty
Shogi parlor in Kamurocho
Japanese chess — the key difference from Western chess is that captured pieces can be dropped back onto the board.
Build a castle (gakoi) around your king before attacking — Mino castle is the easiest starter.
Captured pieces can be dropped anywhere — parachute them deep into enemy territory.
Completion needs just one win — pick a weak opponent if you're struggling.
Bar games
Pool / Billiards
Difficulty
Billiard halls / bars in Kamurocho
Pool based on 9-ball — use the aim line and power gauge to sink balls into pockets.
Line up with the camera that shows the full aim line, then calculate the angle that sends the object ball toward the pocket.
Match power to distance and plan the cue ball's next position for easier runs.
A touch of English (spin) fine-tunes where the cue ball travels.
Y4 pool is 9-ball: the cue ball must always strike the lowest-numbered ball left on the table first (1, then 2, and so on), and you only keep shooting if you pot a ball.
Bar games
Darts
Difficulty
Bars in Kamurocho
Standard darts (501, Count-Up, etc.). The key is timing your throw as the wobbling cursor settles.
Throw when the wobbling cursor is centered; aim for triple-20 to rack up points fast.
In 501 you must hit exactly zero, so plan to finish on a double.
Once comfortable, chase a high Count-Up score to meet completion targets.
Sports
Bowling
Difficulty
Mach Bowl, Kamurocho
Standard ten-pin bowling — adjust your start position and spin (hook) to bowl strikes.
Start slightly to one side and apply hook to hit the 'pocket' between the 1 and 3 (or 1 and 2) pins.
Keep power high and repeat a consistent direction-plus-spin combo for reliable strikes.
If you leave a split, don't gamble — clear at least one side cleanly.
Music / Rhythm
Karaoke
Difficulty
Karaoke box in Kamurocho
A rhythm karaoke minigame — clear each song and pass a score threshold to satisfy completion goals.
Hit each note exactly as it reaches the judgment line — missing the beat costs a lot of points.
Practice timing on easy songs first, then push for high scores on harder tracks.
Completing certain substories lets you invite companions to sing along.
Sports
Table Tennis
Difficulty
Kamurocho
A back-and-forth table tennis match — use timing and aim to exploit your opponent's open side.
Angle returns into the corners the opponent can't reach easily.
A well-timed smash can win the point outright, but only use it on clear chances or you'll fault.
Dragging out rallies to force opponent errors is safer than over-attacking.
The Y4 opponent rarely misses in normal rallies, so you score with smashes: hold the swing button as the ball comes and release the instant the racket glows to build the Heat meter fast — better timing fills it more.
Sports
Batting Center
Difficulty
Batting center in Kamurocho
Time your swing to hit pitches — home-run challenges and consecutive-hit targets feed into completion.
Swing just before the ball reaches the plate — swinging too early causes whiffs and fouls.
In the home-run challenge, target fast pitches down the middle for clean over-the-fence hits.
As pitch speed rises, start your swing slightly earlier and read the pitch location in advance.

#18What I Caught
▼
Wharf
Trigger: Talk to the fisherman at the wharf.
Intro to the fishing minigame. Buy bait, land three fish, then take out the yakuza who barge in.
RewardRuby + 5000 EXP
#19Cat and Homeless Man
▼
Theater basement B1
Trigger: Talk to the homeless man searching for his cat.
Find the lost cat. Missable: when asked for ¥50,000 at the end, refuse — handing the money over kills the follow-up 'Reason for Revenge'.
Choices
Q. 'Help me?'A. I'll try
Q. 'What should I give it?'A. Milk
Q. 'Lend me ¥50,000'A. Refuse
RewardCat key + 5000 EXP
#20The Hunted Woman
▼
Multiple Kamurocho spots
Trigger: Bump into the fleeing woman on the streets.
Take down each wave of pursuers in turn. Sets up 'Parent and Child'.
RewardPlayer's piece + 5000 EXP
#21Lingering Chivalry
▼
Shichifuku St. — children's park
Trigger: Help Katagiri when prompted at the park.
Back up the old chivalrous fighter Katagiri in his last brawl.
RewardAncient Champion's Legacy + 2000 EXP
#22Ryugu Castle Bodyguard
▼
Park-front St. — Ryugu Castle entrance
Trigger: Clear 'Sister and Brother 1'.
Handle a rowdy patron to earn entry into the Ryugu Castle casino.
Never repeat the same training command within one shift (it almost always fails). Once all options unlock, the most efficient order is Lecture > Free Time > Relax.
Stress management is critical: Encourage raises motivation but spikes stress, while Relax slashes stress at a small motivation cost. Let stress pile up and the hostess takes days off, so balance the two.
Pre-set three outfit themes for guest tastes — Cute (Miniskirt Dress + short hair + Hearts earrings), Refined (Charming Bare Top + medium cut + Elegant Necklace, no nail polish), and Gorgeous/Flashy (Mermaid Dress + curly updo + showy rings/nails). For cosplay shifts, a school uniform suits the innocent type and a China dress suits the gyaru type.
For a slumping hostess, gifts from Ebisuya restore motivation best — the French Muffler is the most cost-effective. Wearing each girl's preferred dress (Strapless or Mini Skirt Dress, per the boutique hints) during meetings also nets the 'Joy of Gifting' trophy.
There are only four of each tile, so watch every player's discard pile and prioritise ditching tiles already discarded (lower draw odds). When only the last pair remains you can declare Riichi to speed the hand to a finish.
Yakuza 4 Remastered Seven Pairs trophy guide
You don't have to sink the 9 last — if a legal hit on the lowest ball caroms the 9-ball into a pocket, you win instantly, so play for that combo whenever the 9 sits near a pocket.
Smash (hold L2) whenever the ball heads to the opponent and you'll usually score; near match point (11) the opponent starts returning smashes, so on Hard expect to land two or three smashes in a single rally to take the point.
