Put melee staff on the front lines and ranged/throwers behind them, and fire the leader skill (ultimate) the instant its gauge fills on a tight enemy cluster. Slot the strong staff you recruit through substories (ex-Tojo execs, etc.) into your core lanes, and upgrade funds to field more units at once — that carries you through the late rival clans.
